Middle/High School Attendance Policy

Student Success Depends on Attendance

Major objectives of the policy:

  • Ensure adequate attendance records are kept for all students
  • Establish a practical way to account for students' whereabouts each day.
  • Ensure student attendance is sufficient at all scheduled class periods so that students can meet state learning standards.

Recognizing that student attendance is the key to success, the Board of Education has adopted a comprehensive attendance policy.

_______________________________________________________________

Written excuses for absences or tardiness should be given to the main office upon the student's return to school.  Failure to provide a written legal excuse can result in disciplinary actions.

It is the responsibility of parents or guardians to notify the office, in writing, the specific reason for the pupil's absence, tardiness or early departure.
